DESCRIPTION:This event will launch our latest Good Practice Guide – Supporting Individuals with Challenging Behaviour in Independent Living Settings. \nOver the last few years\, especially since the Covid-19 pandemic independent living/sheltered and retirement housing providers have experienced an increase in residents with complex needs presenting challenges for providers\, scheme staff and other residents. \nThe profile of residents has been changing with more ‘younger’ residents\, some of whom have more complex needs not necessarily being met by other statutory and voluntary services who are faced with their own resource challenges at a time when demand has been increasing. As existing residents grow older\, they might also experience more complex or challenging needs. \nErosh carried out a survey last year to find out more about common issues and challenges\, and what organisations need help with. DESCRIPTION:The independent living sector has seen significant changes in the last 10 years\, with organisations completing mergers\, restructures and adapting the way independent living services are being delivered. \nWe are hearing from organisations about the changes they are introducing and also from organisations who want to speak to others about the changes they have made to understand if they are working successfully. \nServices also have significant differences in the way residents are involved\, the changes in technology on schemes\, the availability of Wi-Fi\, the use of communal rooms\, pets’ policies\, etc. \nAfter a successful benchmarking project in Wales in 2023\, we are now looking to carry out a larger scale exercise in 2025 across the UK. \nThis event is an initial meeting to set out the project and scope the range of issues to be covered. SUMMARY:Digital Switchover - Good Practice Guide Update Event
DESCRIPTION:When we ran our Digital Switchover – Good Practice Guide Launch event in February\, it was so popular that we agreed to run an update event in October. \nBy 2025\, analogue telephone services will be switched off as the UK’s telecoms infrastructure is upgraded to digital connectivity. This shift has major implications for the 1.7 million people who rely on telecare in the UK\, and on the organisations that manage health\, housing and home care. \nOur Digital Switchover – Good Practice Guide Update Event will focus on the practical considerations for sheltered and retirement housing providers. \nOur Guest Speakers will include: \nMark Law\, Partnership Manager\, Careline 365\nPresenting on the impact of the digital switchover and their digital solution. Mark will also share the customer queries they have encountered and how Careline have responded. \nAsmut Price\, Older Persons Accommodation Manager\, Cardiff City Council\nPresenting on Cardiff City Council’s organisational approach to understanding and planning for Digital Switchover. SUMMARY:How erosh ILS Framework helped to assist Southern Housing merger
DESCRIPTION:In December 2022 Southern Housing was created following a merger of Optivo and Southern Housing Group. Bringing together two large organisations and seeking to harmonise the services for older people including sheltered housing and extra care housing was going to be challenging\, particularly as the roles and service model was different. As Optivo was accredited with erosh Independent Living Standards it was agreed the accreditation would provide a framework to assist with the process of merging two services. \nThe assessment took place across all of the regions from Kent to the Isle of Wight and up to the Midlands\, with a combination of visits and some remote meetings. Although the service is still progressing through a harmonisation process\, the quality of the service was observed by the assessors and the standards met. The accreditation was awarded from March 2024. \nThis summary only covers a fraction of what has taken place to merge and update the services and erosh are delighted to be hosting an event on Friday 12th July at 2pm in partnership with Southern Housing where we will provide further details on how the erosh Independent Living Standards framework assisted the merger process. \nOur event in partnership with Southern Housing will provide the opportunity to find out more about the key process\, lessons learnt\, areas of good practice and what the new service offer looks like. \nYou will hear from: \n\nCharlotte Rook – Head of Independent Living\, Southern Housing\nNaomi Keyte – Director of Care and Independent Living\, Southern Housing\nKelly Collett and Chrissy Ellis from the Service Improvement team\, Southern Housing\nSteve Rafferty Erosh Director of Independent Living Standards\, erosh\n\n  \nWho can attend? anyone who is interested in the erosh Independent Living Standards.
