SUMMARY:Sussex / Kent Network Meeting
DESCRIPTION:You are cordially invited to attend our next Sussex/Kent Network Meeting. \nSince Covid-19 many of our regional networks have met virtually and we are delighted to be able to host a series of in-person network meetings with an erosh representative attending each one. \nOur networks are one of our most popular member benefits\, especially in a sector where staff are often quite isolated. Members come together to find out where others are in relation to sector developments\, get up to date with current thinking\, share ideas and good practice\, discuss challenges and solutions and make new contacts. \nYou normally need to be an erosh member to attend our regional network meetings\, but but we are opening up these special events to non-members so you can come along and see what we’re about and network with colleagues in your area. \nErosh members\, Wealdon District Council are kindly hosting a buffet lunch with plenty of opportunity to network\, followed by our network meeting and a tour of the facility. \n  \nWho can attend? anyone \nWhen is it? Tuesday 23rd April 2024\, 12.30 – 3pm \nWhere is it? Wealdon District Council\, Grants Hill Court\, Oakleigh Way\, Uckfield\, TN22 2BN \nCost? Free to attend \n  \nIf you would like to attend and you haven’t received your invite\, please email Rena on: info@erosh.co.uk.

SUMMARY:Find out more about erosh's Independent Living Standards
DESCRIPTION:The Code of Practice is changing. \nWe have undertaken a review of the Code of Practice. Consultation took place with the Advisory group and Code of Practice registered organisations. The new standards and processes have been trialled in an assessment that has recently concluded and we are now ready to launch our new Independent Living Standards together with additional support to help organisations achieve the accreditation. \nThe key changes reflect the services covered by the standards moving away from traditional models of support and other expectations of providers. \nThe changes include: \n\nUpdated standards that include changes around the expectations of independent living services.\n\n\nThe use of Microsoft Teams to allow improved communication with assessors and submission of documents through the process\, allowing evidence to be submitted from day 1 after registration.\n\n\nAdditional support in the lead up to assessment through 1-2-1 support and support to teams\n\n\nA flexible assessment process that combines a range of on-site and remote assessment\n\nThe updated accreditation still maintains a self-assessment before submission and no lengthy time-consuming portfolio building. Accreditation can be achieved in 6 months or less. \nA question we are often asked\, is “when is the best time to register?”. We are happy to talk to you and help you decide\, with some organisations using the standards as a checklist to work towards when reviewing services\, while other prefer to wait until a service review has been completed and see how it is working. We also have organisations who are harmonising services after a merger and want the accreditation assessment to test out the services and consistency across the regions. \nFind out more about our new Independent Living Standards as well as hearing from the following registered organisations about the benefits and challenges they encountered during the accreditation process. \n\n\nClaire James\, Trivallis Head of Supporting Customers & Tenancies and Chris Thomas\, Trivallis Safeguarding & Service Standards Co-ordinator will share feedback from the Independent Living Standards Pilot.\nChrissy Ellis Southern Housing Team Member will discuss the benefits they found of accreditation during a merger.\nAsmut Price Cardiff Older Persons Accommodation Manager will share the experiences of a recently accredited organisation.\n\n\n  \nWho can attend? anyone – you don’t have to be an erosh member to attend \nWhere is it? This is a virtual event and will be hosted via Microsoft Teams \nWhen is it? Thursday 3rd August @ 10.30 am – 12.00 noon \nCost? Free to attend \nHow to register? Please click here and you will be taken to our eventbrite booking page.

SUMMARY:Supporting Older LGBT+ People in Housing

SUMMARY:Lessons from the Pandemic | Supporting people living with dementia
DESCRIPTION:Following on from our previous Covid-19 briefings\, erosh has produced a Good Practice Guide focusing on the lessons learned from the pandemic for supporting older people living with dementia. The pandemic had a significant impact on the loneliness and isolation of older people generally\, but particularly on individuals living with dementia who were not necessarily able to understand the restrictions on their lives and the very sudden withdrawal of contact with families and friends. Those supporting older people in sheltered and retirement housing had to find new and creative ways of ensuring that continuity of service to people living with dementia was maintained and the risk of isolation and loneliness was minimised. \nThis event\, chaired by erosh CEO\, Rebecca Mollart\, will cover the key headlines from our new guide and feature guest speakers from the Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT) who will talk about the Research Enquiry\, conducted by the Forget-Me-Nots (FMNs) and funded by the Dementia Enquirers programme\, into the impact of Covid upon people living with dementia. The FMNs is a service user group of older adults with dementia in Canterbury and surrounding areas. \nWho can attend? Anyone can attend this event. You don’t have to be an erosh member \nWhere is it? This is a virtual event and will be hosted via Microsoft Teams \nWhen is it? Wednesday 2nd November @ 2.30 – 4 pm \nCost? Free to attend \nHow to register? Please click here and you will be taken to our eventbrite booking page.

SUMMARY:Find out about the erosh Code of Practice
DESCRIPTION:Free Zoom event 20th October 2-4pm \nOur new revised and updated Code of Practice continues to provide an invaluable independent and objective assessment of the quality of your accommodation and services for older people against national standards especially at a time when\, driven by the challenges of the pandemic\, you are perhaps rethinking\, reviewing\, and restructuring. \nIt is all too easy to put aside accreditation and standards when other priorities beckon but some of our customers have found that signing up to or continuing to work towards the erosh Code of Practice provides a framework for making sure they don’t lose sight of quality standards\, continuous improvement and evidence based outcomes which demonstrate how well they have supported and continue to support older people\, their independence\, and health and well-being. \nIt is not as onerous as you may think – you will already have in place most of the evidence you need for the five standards\, and the assessment process is built around existing documents and activities so the impact on staff and resources is minimised. \nIn recognition of the challenges many organisations are facing at the moment\, we are delighted to offer all new customers signing up to the Code of Practice before the end of December 2021 a 10% discount on your first year’s registration fee! \nTo find out more about the erosh Code of Practice and how accreditation will benefit your organisation you can join us this free Zoom event! \nTo book your free place email events@erosh.co.uk including: \nYour full name \nYour job title: \nYour organisation name: \nJoining details will be emailed to you nearer the time.

SUMMARY:National Network Zoom Event for Members - LGBT+ Older People and Sheltered & Retirement Housing
DESCRIPTION:Many LGBT+ older people struggle to find friendly accommodation. Specialist schemes are rare and sheltered and retirement housing providers tend not to advertise schemes as ‘LGBT-friendly’ even when they are. Although the Equality Act 2010 has to some extent reduced overt prejudice\, the discrimination\, fear and isolation older LGBT+ people experience continues to impact on their expectations of housing\, support and care\, and their anxiety about facing further discrimination and homophobia.\nThere is a need for much greater understanding of the needs and concerns of LGBT+ older people so sheltered and retirement housing staff provide better support\, help overcome discrimination and homophobia and actively promote their schemes and services as LGBT-friendly.\nErosh members will hear from expert Ceri Meloy\, Head of business\, Tai Pawb which promotes equality and social justice in housing in Wales.  There will also be an opportunity to put your questions to Ceri\, and share issues and good practice with fellow erosh members. \nPlease note: This event is for erosh members only \nTo register for this event please email events@erosh.co.uk requesting to reserve a place providing \n\nyour full name\nmember organisation\ntitle/position\n\nYou will then be sent joining instructions a few days before the event.
