Brexit and the implications for housing

5th December 2016 @ 5:30 pm

Brexit asks questions of Northern Ireland that are both considerable – such as our reliance on common agricultural policy (CAP) payments – and specific, like the land border with the Republic of Ireland.

CAP payments are just one of many EU funding streams now in doubt and housing is not immune. In June the European Investment Bank (EIB) provided £280 million to Choice and Apex Housing to build 4,700 new and much needed social homes over the next five years. How will the post-Brexit UK access EIB investment, which is very small in non-EU states? What will the wider impact be on housing, such as cost of materials and labour?
