In March last year, when we thought we were facing a short-term crisis, we wrote about the impact of reduced social contact on the loneliness and isolation of older people. Sheltered and retirement housing providers and scheme staff really stepped up and the extent to which support to residents was maintained was incredible. But as the situation continues and we find ourselves in another lockdown, self-isolation as a result of physical need or understandable anxiety, as well as the curtailing of face to face social networking opportunities, exacerbates the loneliness and isolation of some older people and results in others who were not lonely or isolated becoming so; not forgetting the particular impact on those living with dementia, and on carers who are often older people.
This national network event for erosh members focuses on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the loneliness and social isolation of older people.
Chaired by erosh CEO, Rebecca Mollart, the session will include:
- Introduction – Rebecca Mollart
- A video of a conversation in December between Rebecca and erosh patron Dame Esther Rantzen DBE
- Discussion session sharing issues and good practice
- Concluding remarks – Rebecca Mollart
To register for this event please email firstname.lastname@example.org requesting to reserve a place providing
