Fire Door compliance – managing ‘gaps’

Hello, we recently had a survey carried out by a specialist company on the fire doors at our seven sheltered housing schemes. Several received a ‘fail’ against the 4mm standard for gaps. They have had work such as upgrading to hinges, intumescent strips etc in the past and are all ‘certified’ for 30 minutes, but of course they are wood and will shift in the frames etc. Local fire service teams do not seem unduly concerned in practice, but will not (obviously) formally confirm this.  It would be really helpful to hear from any one who is in a similar situation and understand how you are dealing with compliance in respect of fire doors (specifically gaps) for services where you have a stay put policy and older wooden doors. Many thanks Tamara
