We are delighted to report that we have been invited to provided evidence at the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Ageing and Older People in February 2019.
The APPG is holding an inquiry into decent and accessible homes for older people. The aim of the inquiry is to “understand the detrimental impact of poor housing on older people’s physical, mental and social well-being and to find solutions that be presented to the Government”. We are asked to speak about and provide evidence in relation to the following questions:
- What do we know about the conditions in sheltered and other forms of supported housing for older people?
- Why do conditions vary?
- What reforms are required to improve the sector?
- What role will funding play in shaping the standards and the availability of housing care and support?
- How far do poor standards in supported housing impact on provision for vulnerable older people e.g. older homeless people?
As an organisation with members at our heart, it is essential that we capture your views and present these to Government.
I would be very grateful therefore if you could contact me via email (ceo@erosh.co.uk) with your thoughts on these 5 questions by Friday 18 January 2019. We will then collate your responses (anonymously) and use these to formulate our evidence.
Please include examples in your response where you can – of your own positive practice as well as examples you may have of negative impacts.
