Esther is well-known for her passion for older people’s issues and is committed to ensuring that issues affecting older people are at the forefront of the Government’s agenda.

Esther launched her charity The Silver Line in 2013, a free and confidential helpline for older people open every day and night, which aims to reduce isolation and offer companionship. The helpline:
- Offers information, friendship and advice
- Links callers to local groups and services
- Offers regular befriending calls
- Protects and supports those suffering abuse and neglect
