CIH Level 3 Qualification (Independent Living Pathway)

Our CIH Level 3 Certificate in Housing Practice (Independent Living Pathway) in partnership with Kingdom Academy is due to start on the 28th January 2026. We will also be launching a Level 4 qualification in 2026.

We have developed this qualification in partnership with Kingdom Academy, the Housing Sector’s Trusted Training Partner, and to our knowledge, it is the only qualification that includes Independent Living focused units that focus on older people’s housing.

The qualification will be delivered via a mix of online learning together with an online workshop for each unit that will provide the unique opportunity to learn and network alongside other staff who work in similar roles in the Independent Living Sector.

  • Independent Study Time: Dedicated time for learning outside of day-to-day tasks, including online modules, reading, reflection activities, and assignments.
  • Learning in the Workplace: Use what you learn in real-time. Connect course content to your role by applying new knowledge and approaches in your day-to-day work.
  • Review & Assessment: Ongoing support through tutor feedback and regular tutorials to demonstrate your understanding and complete your qualification.

CIH Level 3 Qualification Content

The CIH Level 3 Certificate in Housing Practice is delivered over 10 months and includes:

  • 8 units
  • 8 assignements
  • 1 online induction session (3 hours)
  • 8 online workshops (6 hours each)
  • 8 online group tutorials (3 hours each)

Independent Living Specific Units

Independent living for older people (H3035)

Learning Outcome 1: Understand the housing options and related services for older people.

Learning Outcome 2: Understand the influence of demographic and social factors on housing and support needs and aspirations of older people.

Learning Outcome 3: Understand the delivery of housing services for older people in the wider

context of health and social care.

Learning Outcome 4: Understand the range of housing and support services that promote greater independence and social inclusion for older people.

Safeguarding adults with care and support needs (H3040)

Learning Outcome 1: Know the legal and regulatory framework for safeguarding adults with care and support needs.

Learning Outcome 2: Understand the impact of the legal and regulatory framework for safeguarding adults with care and support needs on professional practice.

Learning Outcome 3: Understand the role of partnership  working in safeguarding adults with care and support needs.

Cost

The cost of the course is £2175 plus VAT but erosh members and ILS registered organisations receive a generous £180 discount, reducing the cost to £1995 plus VAT.
