Care Act 2014 – New Policy Briefing

The Care Act received Royal Assent on 14 May 2014 and its provisions come into effect in April 2015. Government says that it will “make a difference to some of the most vulnerable people in society for many years to come”. In the Act and the accompanying guidance, there is a greater appreciation of the role of housing and housing related support in individual well-being but it falls short of fully recognising the significance of the preventative work our members do which reduces the pressure and cost on health and social services.  This briefing explains the background to the Act and its links with the Better Care Fund; helps you navigate round the different parts of the Act; comments on the provisions from the perspective of erosh and its members; outlines the consultation process and timetable; and provides handy links to further information.
