Support Action on Elder Abuse’s campaign for new powers of entry

There are a number of people in very vulnerable situations who are imprisoned in their own homes by others who exploit, neglect and abuse them. These Third Parties deny access to adult safeguarding staff and the police. While there are instances where adult safeguarding staffs successfully use the law or another creative manner to gain access, all too often that access is dependent upon the cooperation of the abuser. Inevitably some abuse continues unimpeded. Action on Elder Abuse is therefore calling on the Government to introduce a power of access to adult safeguarding staff, only accessed by the courts, with multiple safeguards to ensure it is not misused and is asking people to sign a letter of support to the Prime Minister, at http://tinyurl.com/pvg9fxc
