Erosh Patron, Esther Rantzen, has launched nationally The Silver Line; a free 24-hour dedicated helpline which aims to combat loneliness in the over-65s by providing friendship, information and advice for older people across the UK.
The phone line, 0800 4 70 80 90, is funded by a £5m grant from the Big Lottery Fund.
One of the reasons Esther agreed to become patron of erosh was the crossover between The Silver Line and erosh’s involvement in highlighting the role of sheltered housing and related support services in overcoming isolation and loneliness and engaging all older people in a community.
The erosh Policy & Practice Portal includes guidance on topics like intergenerational activities as well as case studies on using schemes as community hubs.
