LGBT+ History Month

LGBT+ History Month is celebrated every February across the UK, and was founded in 2004 by Schools OUT co-chairs, Paul Patrick & Professor Emeritus Sue Sanders. It was first celebrated in February 2005.

Every year Schools OUT sets a different theme for LGBT+ History Month and provides free resources for education settings, businesses, services and organisations to help them celebrate and ‘Usualise’ LGBT+ lives in their full diversity.

LGBT+ History Month 2023: Behind the Lens

The LGBT+ History Month 2023 #BehindTheLens celebrates LGBT+ peoples’ contribution to cinema and film from behind the lens. Directors, cinematographers, screen writers, producers, animators, costume designers, special effects, make up artists, lighting directors, musicians, choreographers and beyond.

LGBT+ History Month is for everyone; whether you work in education, a museum, library or art gallery, a business, a service, are a member of a network/social group or an individual or work in housing.

In order to celebrate LGBT+ History Month erosh has teamed up with Tai Pawb to host a session on how we can better support older LGBT+ people in housing. Evidence suggests that older LGBT+ people living in sheltered accommodation or shared settings face difficulties in being open about their sexual orientation can be subject to discrimination.

This is a virtual event and will be hosted via Zoom on Thursday 9th February @ 11 – 12.30 pm. To book onto this event, please click on the button below and you will be taken to the Tai Pawb booking system. You don’t have to be a member of erosh or Tai Pawb to attend this event.

You can also find out more about supporting your LGBT+ tenants in our Good Practice Guide | LGBT+ Older People and Sheltered & Retirement Housing.
