The Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016

Members in Wales will be fully aware that that new Act applied to all new tenancy agreements from 1 December 2022. Written statements need to be issued within 14 days of the occupation date for all new contracts starting on or after 1 December 2022; and written statements for converted contracts had to be issued by 1 June 2023.

New ‘occupation contracts’ have replaced existing tenancies and licences and there are just two types – standard contracts (mainly in the private rented sector) which replace assured shorthold tenancies; and secure contracts (mainly in the social rented sector) which replace secure and assured tenancies.
