Whilst some of us welcome the summer heat, extreme temperatures can be dangerous for health, especially those who may be particularly at risk e.g. individuals who may struggle to keep themselves cool and hydrated such as older people, people with underlying health conditions, and those who live alone.
Housing providers have a responsibility to ensure that older people are fully informed about how to keep cool in hot weather and to identify any individuals who are particularly vulnerable.
There is a lot of guidance available but in particular we like:
Age UK’s guidance on How to keep cool in a heatwave
The NHS’s guidance Heatwave: how to cope in hot weather
