The latest erosh midlands regional event took place at Brunswick House, Marston Green, Solihull, last week.
In addition to a tasty buffet (kindly provided by Waterloo HA), members were treated to two excellent presentations.
- Elizabeth Stickney introduced MacMillan’s new midlands based Direct Volunteering Service which provides practical and/or emotional support e.g. shopping, housework, gardening, driving someone to appointments, helping someone re-establish hobbies/social networks, providing respite care or just chatting/supporting face to face or over the telephone etc to people with cancer or their families. For more information about the midlands service contact EStickney@macmillan.org.uk or click here to find out about other local support groups.
- Michael Patterson, Director of Support Solutions, then gave a potted version of his extremely popular seminar on ‘exempt accommodation’, highlighting the implications for providers of housing and services for older people. Michael clarified some of the issues causing concern as well as sharing his thoughts around likely future scenarios.
The next meeting will be held February/March 2014. If you are an erosh member and would like to be added to the contact list for the midlands network, please email the network chair, r.mollart@erosh.co.uk.
