By 2025, analogue telephone services will be switched off as the UK’s telecoms infrastructure is upgraded to digital connectivity. This shift has major implications for the 1.7 million people who rely on telecare in the UK, and on the organisations that manage health, housing and home care.
We first produced our Good Practice Guide – Digital Switchover in 2019 when the switchover seemed a long way off.
At that time, just over half of housing organisations had plans in place then to make the transition from analogue to digital.
We have now updated our Good Practice Guide – Digital Switchover to focus on the practical considerations for sheltered and retirement housing providers.
To inform our updated Good Practice Guide, we conducted our own survey to find out how ready organisations felt they were. Interestingly, the picture is not much different to 2019, with 45% of respondents stating they were quite/very prepared.
Our updated Digital Switchover Good Practice Guide covers:
- Where are we now and where we are heading
- Key definitions and policy context
- Benefits of changing from analogue to digital
- Challenges of changing from analogue to digital
- Implications and key considerations for housing related support providers
- Assessment of current and new considerations and costs
- Leadership, responsibilities, planning, consultation and communication
- Where to find further information
