Dealing with Confrontation in Sheltered Housing
- Details
Frontline staff working in sheltered housing and independent living settings can sometimes find themselves dealing with challenging or confrontational situations - particularly when lone working.
Knowing how to recognise potential risks, communicate effectively and respond safely can help staff feel more confident when faced with demanding situations.
💙 International Day of Charity | 5 September
- Details
International Day of Charity is a chance to recognise the contribution charities make every day – and, as a charity, it’s also an opportunity for erosh to reflect on why our work matters and the difference that support from across the sector can make.
For more than 30 years, erosh has worked to improve the quality of housing and support available to older people.
Small changes can make a big difference in staying active

September is Move More September, an opportunity to think about how we can all build a little more movement into everyday life.
For older people, staying active can be particularly important. Regular movement can help maintain strength, balance and mobility, support independence and provide opportunities to get out, meet people, and stay connected.

Our next CIH Housing Practice (Independent Living) cohorts are starting soon, with Level 3 beginning on the 17th September and Level 4 on the 13th October.
These qualifications were developed specifically for our sector, with content that reflects the work people are actually doing across independent living services and the knowledge they need as their roles develop.

There’s a huge amount of knowledge, experience and good practice sitting across the erosh membership - and our regional networks are where we get to share it.
Over the next few months, our members across the country will be getting together to talk about the issues they’re dealing with day to day, hear what others are doing and learn from the experiences of colleagues working across older people’s housing and independent living.
